Application Management
In today’s economic climate, reducing costs and maximising the use of internal resources are critical imperatives for most businesses. Outsourcing system support and development of one, or all, of an organisation’s business IT systems can help achieve significant cost savings.
The advantages of outsourcing these functions include:
- Extending the life of legacy applications / solutions
- Reducing operational costs
- Gaining access to external business and technical expertise
- Accommodating fluctuating demand levels
Microgen has more than twenty years’ experience of delivering a wide range of cost effective, UK-based application management services to the Public and Private sectors. These services can be used for applications built using Microgen’s software such as Microgen Aptitude or any other external software.
Microgen provides dedicated support consultants with the skills required to resolve application problems when they arise and to deliver be-spoke and larger developments.
Microgen takes responsibility for all, or any, aspects of the maintenance and enhancement of an organisation’s application systems. The service compromises a pre-agreed number of support days per period, and reporting is provided to account for time used in each period. Regular service reviews and a clear Service Level Agreement and escalation path all contribute to a customer-friendly, efficient applications management capability.
How do you take on an application you know nothing about?
Microgen has a successful track record stretching back over 20 year of working closely with development teams to execute an ‘application take-on’. Microgen has strong frameworks for application management services.
We have a larger enhancement to the solution you support, can you resource this?
In addition to the applications management service, Microgen can provide consultancy resources for larger changes / projects. All larger consultancy projects / changes are managed in line with Prince 2 project management principles.
What is the minimum support term you offer?
The minimum support term generally offered is 12 months as this allows for our consultants to align both their knowledge of the supported system/solution and the business processes within you organisation.
Can the contracted terms be changed?
Absolutely, the initial commissioning of the service will be provided with a number of days per period (Month, Quarter, Year). Regular service reviews will define if the original estimated number of days was too high, low or correct. Should the number of days required alter this can be performed via simple change control.
